Als ich 2005 die Diagnose Hirntumor bekam war ich geschockt. Ich wollte gerade am nächsten Tag einen neuen Job anfangen. Jetzt konzentriere mich auf meine ehrenamtliche Arbeit in verschiedenen Selbsthilfegruppen.

Stephan ist es wichtig Gesicht zu zeigen und anderen jungen Betroffenen und der Angehörigen damit bewusst zu machen, dass es nach dem Schock der Diagnose weitergeht. Heute ist er ein Dauerbrenner in Sachen Engagement für andere Betroffene. In Dresden gründete er schon 2009 eine altersübergreifende Selbsthilfegruppe für Hirntumorpatienten und ist als Initiator unseres TREFFPUNKT Dresden auch in der Stiftung sehr aktiv. Über sich selbst und seine ehrenamtlichen Tätigkeiten sagt Stephan, dass es der beste Job ist, den er bis jetzt hatte.

Jeder Mensch ist anders. Mir wurde bei meiner Diagnose gesagt, dass ich höchstens drei Monate zu leben habe. Nun sind es schon elf Jahre. Gebt bitte nicht auf, auch wenn der Schock erst mal groß ist nach der Diagnose. Vertraut den Ärzten und geht den Weg gemeinsam.
